Genre Research: Horror

Image
Madelyn Argueta AICE Media Studies Period 6  Hello everyone, today I researched the genre horror. To begin with, common camera angles that I noticed were frequent in horror movies were Close-ups, eye-level shots, point-of-view shots, tracking shots, two-shots, three-shots, and low angles. These common camera angles helped me feel as if I were experiencing these films in real life by putting me in the character's shoes. This also helped create suspense and fear. Moving on, the common costume I analyzed was casual clothes, typically dark clothes and sometimes covered in fake blood. Other than the costumes I noticed that in most of the scenes, there was dark-colored lighting, spotlights, and shadows. This helped create suspense because of the mystery of what is behind the things the viewer cannot see. In horror movies, the setting is typically somewhere abandoned or a home. For props, they typically use weapons such as knives and torture devices to create the gore of the horror. Furth...

Our Pitch!

Image
Madelyn Argueta AICE Media Studies Period 6 Hello World,   Pitch A: A group of friends playing a game with the little brother, but what does he see that they don't ?   Pitch B: The student begins to receive an overbearing amount of notes and gifts in her locker, but it's different from who she expected.   Discuss Pitch A: This pitch would be fun to execute because it's something different than what is normally seen in movies. We would also be interested in doing this pitch because our film's small details , like the roles of the siblings, were resolved. We also enjoyed how at the end of the film the tension was broken. Although some ideal locations may not allow filming. Also, it would be difficult to get multiple actors to be a part of our film.   Discuss Pitch B: This pitch would be interesting to bring to life to show the progression of the gifts and how they become overwhelming throughout the film . Although we would not be able to get the amount of p...

My Group for the Final Task!

Image
Madelyn Argueta  AICE Media Studies Period 6 For my final project, I decided to work with two classmates instead of alone. I chose to work with classmates so we could put together all of our ideas from our own perspectives. This would help make the final task better, and more creative. Working with peers exposes me to ideas, viewpoints, and opinions that I never would have considered on my own. The classmates I chose to work with are Giovanna and Shadae. I chose to work with Giovanna because I know she always does her best work. She is very motivated to do this final task. She is also very punctual with her work. In the past, we have worked together and created an excellent team. Thus, I think she would make a fantastic groupmate on my final task. I also chose to work with Shadae. Shadae works extremely hard. She also always gets her work done on time. She is also never afraid to ask or give help. And she's very creative. Thus, I think she would also make an excellent gr...

Introduction to My Final Task!

Madelyn Argueta AICE Media Studies Period 6 My name is Madelyn Argueta. I am 16 years old. I have one younger brother. And we both live with our parents. Me and my family are from El Salvador. I am and grew up as a Christian. I am very family-oriented. I am an honest person because one of my biggest pet peeves is when someone is dishonest. My astrological sign is Virgo. My favorite color is pink. But when asked about my favorite things (other than color) I can never choose one single thing because I am very indecisive. I am an introvert until I get comfortable. I like to travel. The summer I graduate High School I plan on traveling Europe. I like to go to amusement parks for the adrenaline of the roller coasters. I want to become either an anesthesiologist or a pediatrician. I fractured my hand when I was 9 years old. I don't like mushrooms. One of my biggest fears is spiders. And I am excited to get started on my final task!

Critical Creative Reflection

Madelyn Argueta AICE Media Studies Period 6  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-_MNfuQ_gcSpaXOkCif28s8qJIBpa1FvdEFnsMXsRnM/edit?usp=sharing  CCR:  How does your product use or challenge conventions AND how does it represent social groups or issues?  My product used some of the conventions in my genre such as costuming. In my music video, I followed a casual dress code similar to other music videos in my genre. I decided to use this convention because everyone already had a casual outfit and did not require additional effort for costuming and a casual and informal wardrobe went along with the setting of my music video. Furthermore, my product adhered to the convention of a specific type of audio typically found in music videos of my genre, non-diegetic sound, I decided to use this convention to effectively convey a message to the audience, though it challenged the convention of cams because the characters did not lip-sing to the song (apart from the one scene where ...

Production Blog: Final Adjustments!

Image
Madelyn Argueta  AICE Media Studies Period 6  Hello everyone,   Today I started wrapping up the editing for my music video . The first thing I did today was crop some of my scenes because my music video was too long . Due to timing problems, I had to cut out a few parts of the Justin Bieber dancing scenes . The next scene s I had to crop were the escalator scene, the running scene, and some of the other outside scenes . By cropping, adjusting, and cutting these scenes it helped me decrease the length of my music video . Then I ended up having to download an app to download my music . After downloading the app to download my music, I proce eded to have issues with the audio . The first time downloading the song, the audio was inaudible . The second time the audio was barely audible . Then finally on my third try I got the music to be at a good volume . After I fixed everything with the audibility of the song, I had to adjust the song to my cli...
